NEW CHURCH YEAR
RESOLUTIONS

Make a change this Advent

Resolve to:

The Church begins its liturgical year on the first Sunday of Advent. We invite individuals and parishes to make one or more New Church-Year Resolutions to care for all of Creation.

By making small changes , together we can make a big difference.

Pray for Creation

Switch to an eco-friendly product

Help those who suffer

Do we pray for our world? Are we thankful for Creation? Can we bring this to our personal and communal prayer life, perhaps through a short daily meditation or in the prayers of intercession?

Learn what the Church teaches

Do the products we use at home and in our parishes exemplify Christian care for Creation? Can we make a switch to a less harmful cleaner, perhaps, or less wasteful toothbrush?

Plant something

Is there a charity which supports those afflicted by climate change and environmental degradation to which we can donate some time or money?

Get involved in politics

Have we read Laudato Si'? Can we take a little time this year to learn what the Church says about caring for Creation?

Can we join in the act of Creation by planting a tree or starting a small garden?

Can we sign a petition or write to our parliamentarians in support of measures to help the earth and the poor?

"The human person grows more, matures more and is sanctified more to the extent that he or she enters into relationships, going out from themselves to live in communion with God, with others and with all creatures."

Pope Francis (Laudato Si', 240)
