About Laudato Si'

Laudato Si' is the name of Pope Francis' 2015 encyclical letter on care for our common home. The phrase means "praise be", and is taken from a prayer of St Francis of Assisi. Pope Francis calls on all people to care for all of creation, including the earth's diverse habitats, its many species, and for each other.

The Laudato Si' Action Platform

In March 2021 Pope Francis called on all people of goodwill to "cultivate respect for the gifts of the Earth and creation" and to develop an "eco-sustainable lifestyle and society". He inaugurated the "Laudato Si' Action Platform, a seven-year program of ecological conversion for the entire Catholic Church developed by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.

Laudato Si' Tasmania seeks to help Tasmanian Catholics and other people of good will respond to Pope Francis's call to hear "the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor".
